Leeds gets moving (and shaking) again

Leeds has been opening up again over the past week as lockdown restrictions ease – making it a great time to focus on getting back to being active.

Maybe for you it’s a question of going back to a gym or regular exercise class.

Or you might be thinking about how to build activity back into your journey to work.

Perhaps in the first lockdown you walked every day, but the habit slipped over winter and you’re keen to get back into it again?

Whatever your situation, if you’re thinking of getting active and you know all the benefits of moving more, you might want to kickstart the journey by becoming a Mover&Shaker.

Coordinated by local charity Touchstone, the Mover&Shakers project aims to harness people-power to help make Leeds the most active city in the UK.

Mover&Shakers will be supported to use their ideas, and their networks, to encourage others in Leeds to move more and be active. Anyone who signs up as a Mover&Shaker will be offered training opportunities, volunteer support and a welcome pack with information and goodies

If you have ideas for how people in your local area could move more, you’d like to encourage others to be active, or you’re simply willing to share information on opportunities to be active in your area, you could be a Mover&Shaker.

It’s a great way to connect with other people, and to keep up the motivation to stay active yourself.

You can check out what Mover&Shakers have been up to in Leeds on Facebook and Twitter.

Find out more and sign up for a welcome pack  on the Mover&Shaker page of the Get Set Leeds website, or contact the Mover&Shaker coordinator Sarah So on 07824481269. You can also email Sarah at moverandshakers@touchstonesupport.org.uk.
