Dancing is such a versatile way to get active. It can be the focus of a big night out, a new skill to learn, or just a 10-minute boogie in the living room. At home, create a playlist and dance while you shower, brush your teeth or wash up. Or why not try a dance class – from bhangra to belly dancingsalsa to ballroom, Leeds has it all. There are also loads of clubs offering street dance, including RJC and Armley Dance. And anyone aged 3-19 can try cheerdance, street dance, hip hop, jazz, or just get a wiggle on and have fun with Dance Action Zone Leeds (DAZL) .

Yorkshire Dance offers groups for older people, dancing for health and mixed ability dance opportunities. To recreate a nightclub vibe, try a Clubbercise class – complete with glow sticks and whistles.  Or opt for the real thing – Pryzm hosts a monthly club night for people with learning disabilities, or check out Boogie Nights in Horsforth, which attracts an older crowd with its early finish time and Eighties tunes.

Or why not join a troupe dancing at the Leeds West Indian Carnival and wear an amazing costume while you shimmy through the streets…
