Connecting Leeds is looking for people who would like to be part of a number of Active Travel Community Groups across Leeds and receive a £100 voucher!

As part of their ambition to transform travel in Leeds for people who live, work in, and visit the city, Connecting Leeds is setting up active travel panels that can help inform future interventions and decision making to reduce traffic, increase active travel, keep our air clean, and create a healthier and happier Leeds.

Who can be part of the Active Travel Community Groups?

If you live in one of the following areas across Leeds, you’re a perfect fit for being part of the action groups:

  1. Chapel Allerton/Chapeltown
  2. Far Headingley
  3. Burley/Hyde Park/Kirkstall
  4. Harehills/Lincoln Green
  5. Armley/Wortley
  6. Beeston
  7. South Bank/Leeds City Centre

Between 6-10 people from each area will be selected to have their say and join the conversation.

It’s very important to understand that it doesn’t matter whether you already consider yourself to be an active traveller, cyclist or walker, are considering making more journeys like this, or just thinking about it – Connecting Leeds wants to hear from everyone!

But what does the role actually involve?

You will be expected to keep a travel journal for 6 weeks and carry out a short weekly self-reflection questionnaire.

At the end of the study there will be a co-creation session where everyone will be gathered together to develop ideas to encourage more people in Leeds to consider changing the way they travel.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Your perceptions and attitudes towards journeys and travel methods
  • Any barriers and motivations you encounter in your average week
  • Your opinions on some initiatives that are going on in Leeds
  • The journeys you make – how you get there, for what purpose and how far you go
  • Your ideas

Did we mention you will get a £100 voucher?

Each participant will receive a £100 voucher to be paid in shopping or high street voucher. But this comes with two conditions – you must maintain the diary for 6 weeks and participate in a short weekly questionnaire at a time that suits you.

Would you like to share your journey experiences and bring some ideas about how to encourage active travel in Leeds? This is how you can apply!

Places are limited for each area and the Connecting Leeds team will let you know if you managed to occupy a place on the Active Travel Community Groups.
