World Heart Day takes place on September 29th and how could you celebrate better than by taking part in a real challenge that takes care of your heart?
What is The City Step Challenge?
The City Step Challenge is a partnership between Active Leeds and British Heart Foundation for the World Heart Day that encourages people across Leeds to get active and count their steps. The challenge is to push yourself to step further than you’ve stepped before even if it’s about walking your dog, going for a run, or even inviting your colleagues to a virtual walk in the local park.
What actually happens on that day?
If you feel energetic and would like to be part of a dynamic socially-distanced event, head down to Leeds Docks on that day to get involved with the Leeds Dock Running Club for two structured running sessions in the morning and two more in the afternoon. If you want to find out more about the running sessions, contact Leeds Dock Running Club: https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/LeedsDockRunningClub?fbclid=IwAR1DxyisrpAzgcpH6ar6-kWyN_PhWmP3nPr2YU02iRxZG67R73De6MWuB78
If you’re more into walking, you can find a wide range of walking routes on the Leeds City Council’s website to help get your steps up: https://www.leeds.gov.uk/leisure/parks-and-countryside/public-rights-of-way/key-recreational-routes
How do I enter the competition and what prizes can I win?
To be entered into the competition, donate £5 to BHF and note your steps (make sure to take a photo of your tracker as proof). Don’t forget to submit your tracked steps on the message function when donating. All donations will be entered into a prize draw to win one of the followings:
- x 1 year gym membership to an Active Leeds Gym
- x 1 voucher code for a year’s travel on buses in Leeds
